Graphic Communications

 

Graphic Communications is a creative process, often involving a client and a designer that rely on printers, sign makers, etc. to provide consistent results. The purpose of graphic communications is to distribute a message to a targeted audience. In this program, students will gain experience with Adobe’s Creative Cloud applications, operate the school print shop, and provide copier management for the school. Upon graduation, students will be prepared for an entry-level position or to pursue post-secondary education.

    COLLEGE CREDITS:

    Earning college credits while completing a Career Tech program.

  • PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

    Students should possess strong spelling and typing skills, along with the ability of converting fractions to decimals and strong measurement skills.

     

    UNIFORMS

    A CareerTech grey or blue t-shirt is required. In addition, the following CareerTech items may also be purchased: Polo, ¼ zip sweatshirt (special order), sweatshirt, zip fleece, or flannel, (no hoodies). Uniforms may be purchased online or at the school store.

    Jeans or khakis without holes. No pants with straps or chains permitted.

    No open toe shoes or baggy clothing are permitted.

    Long hair must be tied back when operating machinery. Bangs that cover the eye must be pulled back.

    Students may not wear necklaces, bracelets, rings, loose watches, and dangling earrings. Snug fitting watches are encouraged to be worn to learn time management skills.

    Aprons are available to help protect clothing when working with equipment.

    WHAT ELSE TO KNOW:

    This program is ideal for students who are problem solvers, have digital design experience, are mechanically inclined, able to operate equipment, and have spatial and color awareness.

Bryan Hawbecker

Mr. Hawbecker is a CareerTech alumnus of the Graphics Arts program. His industry experience includes managing an in-plant printing facility. He is an Adobe Creative Educator, Leadership Franklin County graduate, and a Certified Tourism Ambassador through the Franklin County Visitor’s Bureau. Mr. Hawbecker contributes over 20 years of teaching at CareerTech.
