How much does it cost to attend?
We do not charge a fee, but your school district pays approximately $8,000 per semester for you to attend. It is as if you are getting a $24,000 scholarship to use toward your career goals.
Are there any out-of-pocket costs?
Students are required to purchase uniforms and some programs require a shop/lab kit.
Do I provide my own transportation?
No, your school district provides transportation. Please contact your school district with questions about transportation.
In what grade do I start attending CareerTech?
Most students begin attending in 10th grade, as this is a 3-semester program of study.
How can I attend CareerTech and still get the credits I need for high school graduation?
Students attend half a year (one semester) at CareerTech and the other half (one semester) at the high school.
What if I'm a home-schooled student?
Home-schooled students must be registered in their school district during the semesters they attend CareerTech.
What if I am failing one of my core subjects?
Students are not permitted to attend if failing one or more core subjects.
What criteria is used to determine student selection?
Applicants must have a 2.0 GPA or above and be passing all core subjects to qualify for admission and be interviewed. Selection is based on grades, attendance, and discipline, as well as an interview evaluation. Click here for Enrollment Guidelines.
What qualities do I need to be successful at CareerTech?
Since our learning style is unique, students should be self-motivated, have a positive attitude, work well with others, and adapt easily to change.
When can I apply?
Applications open September 1 for high school students (9th grade or higher).
When is the application deadline?
Applications for the 2025-26 school year are now open. The deadline for the 2025-26 school year is January 10, 2025.
What is the timeline for student recruitment and selection?
High schools students may apply to CareerTech from September – January 10.
Middle School and High School Open Houses are scheduled in November.
Qualified students will be scheduled for an interview in February.
Selections will be made and students will be notified by April 1.
What if the program I want is already filled?
You may choose to be put on a waiting list, choose another program, or withdraw from CareerTech.
If I do not get selected, can I apply the following year?
Yes, but you must submit another online application.
Can I attend more than one program?
Typically, students attend only one program because many of the certifications require a three-semester time frame to obtain.

When are student interviews scheduled?
All qualified students will be contacted by a high school counselor from your district to set up your interview date and time. Interviews are scheduled in February.
