Career and Technical Student Organizations

The Franklin County CTC provides it students with the opportunity to participate in the following four student organizations specifically related to their career goals:

  • DECA - An Organization for Marketing and Supply and Logistics Management
  • FFA - An Association of Agriculture Education Students
  • HOSA - Health Occupation Students of America
  • SkillsUSA - Trade and Industrial Students of America

All CTSO’s are an integral part of career and technical education as stated in Pennsylvania’s School Law under Chapter 4 and in the Chapter 339 program standards.

DECA (Marketing and Distribution Technology Students)

The mission of DECA is to enhance the co-curricular education of students with interest in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. Participation in the organization affords students the opportunity to develop skills and competence for marketing careers, build self-esteem, experience leadership and practice community service.

Students participate in local, district, state and national competitions on a yearly basis. The chapter is also active in many community service activities in the county.


FFA (Agriculture Mechanics and Landscaping and Horticulture Students)

The FFA mission makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

Students participate in activities at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, State FFA Activities Week, The Big E and the National FFA Conference as well as community service projects.

Franklin County students have won several National Awards of over the years.


HOSA (Allied Health Students)

HOSA’s two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care to help students meet the needs of the health care community.

Students have been successfully participating in the state and national conferences for the past several years. Nationally students have placed in the top 10 of their competitive event areas. HOSA members also participate in a variety of community service activities.


SkillsUSA (All students)

The SkillsUSA mission is to help students become world-class workers and responsible American citizens. The organization’s theme- SkillsUSA: Champions at Work encourages students to be connected, involved and motivated in reaching their career goals.

Participation in SkillsUSA offers the opportunity to participate in Central Regional Leadership Development Academy and competition at the local, district, state and national level. SkillsUSA members have won numerous awards at all levels.


Students also participate in a wide variety of community service projects.
