Mrs. Patricia Domenick, R.N., B.S.N., C.S.N., has been the certified School Nurse for the Franklin County Career and Technology Center for more than 26 years. She has cared for students and staff, and the children of former students, as well as students who have become staff members, during her tenure. She notes that it is important to remember that:
"You can't educate people that are not healthy. But you certainly can't keep them healthy if they're not educated." — Joycelyn Elders (former Surgeon General of the U.S.)
She continues to encourage everyone to eat healthy and get plenty of exercise daily, for if you don't take care of your body, where will you live?
What is School Nursing?
School nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well-being academic success and life-long achievement and health of students. To that end, school nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety including a healthy environment; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build students and family capacity for adaptation, self management, self advocacy, and learning.
